Meet The Team

Our trustees are a passionate group of women 

who lead Nisaba's mission as dedicated volunteers.

 

The team uphold a shared vision of health equity; 

to remove avoidable & unfair obstacles towards a healthy & safe environment.

Monette Eiliazadeh she/her

Founder \ Trustee

Monette has over 13 years experience as a senior Paediatric nurse in the NHS, who was awarded the 2023 PAFTA training achievements award for inclusive care towards refugee inpatients in the NHS.

She has worked internationally since 2013 providing emergency care for people-seeking asylum and those experiencing poverty across numerous geographical locations.

She has remained attentive to her relative's experiences as Assyrian-Iranian refugees, recognising the importance of integration; one that is nurturing and empowering.

Monette established Nisaba in 2023 to tackle period stigma and remove obstacles to health.

Firdowsa Afdal she/her

Policy lead \ Trustee

Firdowsa has a lived experience as a refugee from Somalia. Her experience led her to understand the importance of the journey a refugee embarks on with compassion, admiration and empathy.

With over 13 years senior experience as a Paediatric nurse in the NHS, Firdowsa has provided fundamental inpatient care for refugee separated children and their families, identifying the economical complexities in place, within our societal structure.

She has embarked on international work in refugee camps across Europe providing emergency nursing care for refugees in rural environments.

Firdowsa acts as Nisaba's Safeguarding & Policy lead utilising her clinical experience; proven instrinsic in supporting vulnerable individuals and families.

Hajar Afdal she/her

Trustee

Hajar has first-hand experience of seeking asylum that has allowed her to gain expertise in the asylum process in the UK and resulted in her making it her life’s work to promote women’s rights and equality.

Throughout her career, Hajar has worked with high-risk women, migrants and survivors of gender-based violence, specifically BME women. She also facilitated an online workshop for women who are survivors of domestic violence, struggling with PTSD alongside the Maya Centre.

Hajar holds a degree in politics and international relations, specialising in gender and development studies.

Hadil Al-Etabi she/her

Treasurer \ Trustee

Hadil has over 11 years senior project management experience both within the NHS and on global clinical projects across 20 countries.

She holds a Degree in Genetics, MSc in Forensic and Medical Sciences and a Dip. in Counselling and Listening skills.

Hadil has worked on a cross discipline competition 'CEPMaBC Be a Polymath' as a mentor, delivering scientific concepts to engage and inspire younger audiences.

She is a keen, confident communicator with awareness of listening empathetically, a skill that has proven invaluable in her career path whilst working with people of all ages, from different socio-economic backgrounds.

Hadil acts as Nisaba's Treasurer; a role integral in maintaintaing the sustainability of the Charity.
