OUR MISSION

Our mission is to empower families & individuals, to feel more confident about their menstrual & reproductive health needs, through community driven projects.

Without stigma, without shame.

We want to create opportunity & ease of daily living for refugees experiencing destitution or have little to no recourse to public funds (NRPF). Whether it's a travel cost to the Gp or Home Office, new school shoes or uniform, putting dinner on the table. Everything adds up. We want to eradicate the predicament of not having adequate means to manage a period.

OUR BELIEFS

We recognise the implications of colonialism, capitalism, patriarchy & misogyny towards menstrual health & refugee wellbeing.

We work through a decolonial intersectional feminist lens to dismantle harmful practices.

A humanistic approach is at the heart of our work to empathise with people who are forcibly displaced with sensitivity, compassion & critical thinking in mind.

We aim to re-humanise the migrant community, who are the fabric and heart of our society.

By providing access to period care and more; watching our services evolve, we continue to challenge period shame that can be a varied experience across diverse cultures.

OUR IMPACT

Nisaba is fully volunteer run. Established in Summer 2023, Nisaba has continued to make significant impact through numerous collaborations providing distributions for up to 400 refugees per month. We have supported grass roots organisations and charities such as Women for Refugee Women, The Refugee Council, Hopscotch Women's Centre, African Rainbow Family, Care 4 Calais, refugee baby banks and distribution centres across the UK.

We have partnered with Here We Flow and Bloody Good Period to provide vital provisions for an ever increasing waiting list for menstrual provisions.

We have provided 8 independent workshops reaching 77 refugees with an aim to make self care and inclusive education accessible.

"We have refugee families & their living standards are bad so they rely on charities. Nisaba helped them efficiently manage their periods whilst they had the stress of being unwell in hospital."
